As a CFD Engineer, you will develop, run, and interpret detailed simulations of our novel membrane modules and other process technologies. You will engage in a cross-functional team to launch and improve products. This role is perfect for someone who loves to solve complex physical problems, is passionate about mathematics and enjoys programming, and wants to see their work directly influence product development from the ground up. This role is an in-person or hybrid role, we cannot accommodate a fully-remote candidate for this role. What You Will Be Doing Model and simulate: Build and mesh 3D model geometries Develop math models and simulation schemes involving steady-state Navier-Stokes and reaction- diffusion equations Use simulations to inform design Stay current with advancements in modeling techniques and computational methods Collaborate and innovate: Work closely with laboratory teams and field operations teams to design experiments to validate simulations and compare/interpret field data Collaborate with mechanical design and manufacturing teams to develop solutions that optimize performance while ensuring manufacturability Summarize key findings for technical and non-technical audiences Build code: Integrate simulation models with existing codes Generate workflows or scripts to automate tasks on cloud computers Manage code with git/GitHub What You Will Bring to the Table PhD or BS/MS with equivalent industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field Strong background in fluid mechanics and (steady-state) CFD, including meshing intricate 3D geometries and Navier-Stokes equations Demonstrated prior experience simulating a complex system and comparing to experiment Expertise in solving highly nonlinear and coupled equations. Experience with Python or C++ and both Git and UNIX Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present complex technical results to diverse technical and non-technical audiences. An open-minded and collaborative spirit, with an ability to adjust directions to meet deadlines and top priorities Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with numerical methods and/or writing CFD simulation codes Experience designing physical experiments to validate computational models Demonstrated experience designing a new product with simulation Strong mathematical background in PDEs Expertise in adaptive meshing methods Salary and Benefits Compensation for this role is $90k-$115k annually, and will be based on experience.
