DARTMOUTH COLLEGE Postdoctoral Position in the Jack Byrne Cluster in Mathematics and Decision Science The Department of Mathematics at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time residential postdoctoral appointment with start date July 1, 2026, although earlier start dates are possible. The postdoctoral fellow will join one or more of the research teams associated with the Jack Byrne Academic Cluster in Mathematics and Decision Science — Dimitris Giannakis (Mathematics), Peter Mucha (Mathematics), and James Smith (Tuck School of Business) — as well as other interdisciplinary collaboration in data and decision science across the College. Areas of research interest in the Cluster include but are not limited to Earth system monitoring and forecasting, decision analysis and dynamic programming, dynamical systems, and network science applications in the behavioral and biomedical sciences. The position is intended for two to three years, with an initial one-year appointment renewable contingent upon performance and subject to budgetary approval. Applicants must hold (or expect to hold by the start date of their appointment) a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related field. Successful applicants are expected to be no more than 3 years past their doctorate. The ideal candidate will have a background related to one or more of the research areas described above; possess a keen, demonstrable interest in interdisciplinary collaboration; and clearly indicate in their application their connections to the research programs of one or more faculty in the cluster. The postdoctoral appointee may have the opportunity to teach one or two ten-week courses; contingent on course availability in the Mathematics Department and teaching qualifications. Salary will be adjusted accordingly and set by the Associate Dean for Sciences.
