Position Description

Job Title: Assistant Professor in Mathematical Analysis Department: Arts and Sciences | Mathematics Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Position Overview

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks applications to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field, and demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in analysis. It is expected that this faculty member will be significantly engaged in research, teaching and service in the graduate and undergraduate programs.

Performance Objectives

Develop and maintain high-impact research program in analysis. Teach high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses. Demonstrate excellence in student mentorship. Advise and mentor Ph.D. students. Support the departmental mission through service on committees. Education and Experience Requirements

Required: A Ph.D. in mathematics or related field is required at the time of application.

Desired: The ideal candidate will have an exceptional research record in mathematical analysis, as well as evidence of strong teaching ability and mentoring.
