Position Description

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time, Lecturer II (non-tenure track), with a start date of August 10, 2026. Applicants must have a master's degree in mathematics or a closely related field and at least 3 years of college-level teaching experience by the appointment start date. The Lecturer will teach a 4/4 (4 courses per semester) or a 3/3 should the opportunity arise to coordinate courses.

The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher able to communicate and collaborate with Department faculty and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in mathematics or a related discipline by appointment date 3+ years of experience as an instructor at the college level

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellence in teaching. Experience teaching a variety of lower-division courses. Literacy in modern student-centered pedagogical methods and innovations. Awareness of challenges faced by students in lower-division mathematics. Collaboration and communication skills. A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the University's mission to serve local and global communities.
