Salary: £49,017 – £57,472 per annum

Location: South Kensington Campus

About the role: Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London, funded by the EPSRC grant '’Floer homology and monodromy.'’

What you would be doing: The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Steven Sivek on some aspects of the EPSRC grant titled "Floer homology and monodromy."

This position is well-suited for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Heegaard Floer homology, Dehn surgery, hyperbolic 3-manifolds, knot homology theories, and gauge theory.

What we are looking for: The essential requirements for this post are as follows:

• A PhD or equivalent level of professional qualifications and/or experience in low-dimensional topology or closely related fields • Clear evidence of outstanding promise and originality in research, with a good publication record, commensurate with career stage • Ability to carry out original research and to produce published research papers • Ability to identify, develop, and implement new concepts, techniques, and methods • Ability to organise own work independently • Ability to work with others, especially postdocs and graduate students

Further Information The position is fixed term for 24 months. The expected start date is 1 October 2026.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range, £43,863 - £47,223 per annum.

Maximum salary on appointment £52,922
