Fellowship Description
Applications
are invited for Britton
Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at
McMaster University. These fellowships, which are named after our former colleague Dr.
F. Ronald Britton, provide opportunities to engage in research in mathematics,
with a limited amount of teaching, and are particularly suitable for talented
mathematicians who have recently completed their PhD. Positions are tenable for two years, depending
on the research project and the available funding. To learn more about the department, please visit www.math.mcmaster.ca.
The fellowships are open to candidates of any nationality and selection will be based upon the candidate's research potential and fit with one of the active research groups in the department. Research areas with particular interest in hiring new postdoctoral fellows this year include Algebraic Geometry, Applied & Computational Mathematics, Commutative Algebra, Low-dimensional Topology, Number Theory and Theoretical Fluid Mechanics.
The fellowships
normally start on August 1, 2026
and provide an annual stipend salary of at least $63,000, plus a $4,000 grant
for research expenses. In order to receive full consideration, candidates are required
to apply for these fellowships by using the MathJobs website by December 15, 2025 or until the positions are filled. See our advertisement at www.mathjobs.org.
Applicants should provide at least three letters of recommendation. At least one of these letters should report on the candidate's teaching abilities. Preferably these letters will be submitted through the MathJobs website (see above); they may also be emailed directly to, Dr. Bartosz Protas, Chair, math@mcmaster.ca.
