Fellowship Description

The HUN-REN Alfred Renyi Institute of Mathematics is seeking applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship in the field of low-dimensional topology, starting in September 2026. Candidates are expected to show outstanding promise in mathematical research and active participation in the institute’s life. 

The position comes with no teaching duties.
Candidates are not required to speak Hungarian.
The gross salary will be 1,000,000 HUF per month, supplemented by a travel grant of 500,000 HUF per year.

which should include a CV (including list of publications) and a research statement (2-3 pages on past research and 2-3 pages on future plans).
In addition, two letters of recommendation should be sent directly by the referees to low-dimensional.topology@renyi.hu, with the subject line: Letter of recommendation for [applicant’s full name]. Please name the letter’s file
“[Applicant’s surname]-from-[Referee’s surname].pdf”.
