Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks to fill two Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Associate positions beginning in August 2026. Each position is funded by the NSF Geometry and Topology Research and Training Group (RTG), and is anticipated to be of two years duration, with summer support, and with the possibility of renewal for a third year. The RTG brings together students and researchers in the three interrelated areas of algebraic geometry, geometric topology, and symplectic geometry; see https://delta2.math.uga.edu/ for more information.

Due to the requirements of the grant, the position is only open to US citizens and permanent residents. Teaching duties are two courses per year. In addition, postdocs are expected to participate in the research life of the Department, including the pursuit of an original research program. Applicants should show promise of moving toward excellence in conducting significant research in an area closely related to the focus of the RTG, as well as moving toward the potential for high quality teaching in university mathematics classes.

A Ph.D., or equivalent foreign degree, in Mathematics or a related field is required. Applicants are encouraged to identify a member of the current faculty with whom their research aligns. Complete applications (including letters of recommendation) must be received by December 31, 2025, to ensure full consideration, but review will continue until the positions are filled.

To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter, a vita with a list of publications, a teaching statement, and a research statement, and should arrange for four letters of recommendation (one addressing the candidate's teaching skills) to be submitted through mathjobs.org. Candidates will also need to submit an application through UGAJobs at https://www.ugajobsearch.com/hr/postings/459455 with a list of references who are providing recommendation letters on mathjobs.org. Candidates who do not submit an application to UGAJobs cannot be considered for the position.
