Position Description
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks highly-qualified candidates to fill Limited Term Assistant Professor positions beginning in August 2026. Limited Term Assistant Professor positions are similar to postdoctoral positions in that they are non-tenure-track and involve both teaching and research. Limited-term faculty may be renewed annually for a period of two (2) years. Any request for reappointment of limited term faculty beyond the second year requires pre-approval by the Provost. Teaching duties are the equivalent of 3 four-hour semester long courses or 4 three-hour semester long courses per year, and will be aligned with the department's small class initiative at the Precalculus and Calculus I and II levels, where class size is capped at 20- 23 students. In addition, Limited Term Assistant Professors are expected to participate in the research life of the Department, including the pursuit of an original research program. Applicants should show promise of moving toward excellence in conducting significant research in mathematics or a related area as well as moving toward the potential for high quality teaching in university mathematics classes. A Ph.D., or equivalent foreign degree, in Mathematics or a related field is required. Applicants are encouraged to identify a member of the current faculty with whom their research aligns. Complete applications (including letters of recommendation) must be received by December 31, 2025, to ensure full consideration, but review will continue until the positions are filled. To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter, a vita with a list of publications, a teaching statement, and a research statement, and should arrange for four letters of recommendation (one addressing the candidate's teaching skills) to be submitted through mathjobs.org. Candidates will also need to submit an application through UGAJobs at https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/458665 with a list of references who are providing recommendation letters on mathjobs.org. Candidates who do not submit an application to UGAJobs cannot be considered for the position.
