Northeastern University Department of MathematicsThe Department of Mathematics invites applications for Zelevinsky Postdoctoral Fellows (ZPF) for the Fall semester of 2026. The Zelevinsky Postdoctoral Fellow appointments have a three-year term which is non-tenure-track and non-renewable. The position provides promising mathematicians the opportunity to begin their careers in an active and stimulating research environment, with teaching assignments and ample opportunity for contact with senior research mathematicians. Applications from areas of both pure and applied mathematics are welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
Applicants should have a commitment to high quality classroom instruction. They are also expected to conduct research at a high level. The teaching load for the ZPF position is three courses per year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates are required to have received a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in the field of Mathematics by the start of the appointment.
Applications are welcome from those with prior academic and/or postdoctoral research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants should have strong research potential. Field of research should be consonant with the current research interests of the department, and candidates are strongly encouraged to indicate a member or members of the Mathematics Department with overlapping research interests.

Research statement:
Please describe the focus of your research, including the questions you have identified, the results you have discovered, and the products of these efforts. Teaching Statement:
Please list the teaching you have undertaken, specifying your role (grader, TA, instructor of record), together with any teacher training you have taken. Describe your teaching philosophy, how you design and deliver courses (as applicable), in particular what steps you take to create a learning environment where all students thrive.

Pay Range:
Faculty Postdoctoral Teaching Associate: $65,000 - $71,000
With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
