Assistant Teaching Professor, Mathematics, Northeastern University (Boston Campus) 

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science at Northeastern University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track position of Assistant Teaching Professor beginning in the Fall semester 2026. This is a full time, benefits-eligible position. Teaching Professors are responsible for an annual 5-course teaching load and participate in departmental, college, and university service. 

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and Masters level courses in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, from introductory to advanced levels. They will have a strong commitment to, and experience in, undergraduate teaching, and contribute to curriculum development and student advising. 

Topics of educational interest for the department include Probability, Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Mathematics, Stochastic Analysis, Data Science, and Statistical Learning. In particular, the Department seeks candidates who are also interested in contributing towards our new MS Statistics program. 

Qualifications 
  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Statistics or a related field by the appointment start date. Successful applicants will be expected to provide evidence of a strong commitment to teaching. 
  • Candidates should be committed to promoting experiential learning, which is central to Northeastern University education.

  • Leadership Statement: Please describe your past experiences and activities and/or your future plans detailing your leadership style, how you intend to cultivate a culture that promotes a sense of belonging, including fostering a free and open exchange of ideas and managing different perspectives to help others strengthen their practice.

Pay Range: 
Assistant Teaching Professor: $69,000.00 - $82,000.00 With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
