Position Description

Brazilian Centre for Geometry (CBG) 5 Postdoctoral Positions

Start date: Any month of 2026 (from March 2026 onward) Duration: 36 months, renewable for an additional 12 months and an optional 12-month international extension (BEPE–FAPESP) Fields: Differential Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, Applications of Geometry Locations: Unicamp, USP São Paulo, USP São Carlos, UFSCar, UFABC Deadline: February 23, 2026

The Brazilian Centre for Geometry (CBG), a new FAPESP-funded Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centre (CEPID), invites applications for five postdoctoral fellowships in Geometry and related areas.

The CBG brings together 47 researchers across several institutions in the State of São Paulo and offers a highly active research environment in Differential Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, and Applications of Geometry and Mathematical Physics.

Postdoctoral fellows will conduct independent research under the supervision of a CBG member and participate in seminars, workshops, and collaborative programs across the network. There are no formal teaching duties, but fellows are expected to offer short minicourses related to their research. Interaction with graduate students and participation in centre-wide activities are encouraged. FAPESP requires an annual scientific report.

The fellowship follows FAPESP Postdoctoral conditions: • competitive stipend: BRL 12,570 per month (USD 2,320) • moving costs allowance: extra monthly stipend • research overhead and travel support: BRL 15,084 per year (USD 2,820) • eligibility for a 1-year BEPE international research stay • paid maternity/paternity leave
