The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics starting August 10, 2026. We seek candidates whose research is in pure mathematics with a focus in algebra. With more than 40 primary faculty members, more than 250 undergraduate majors, 70 graduate students, a master’s program with several concentrations, and a robust Ph.D. program, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is the largest and most diverse department in the Klein College of Science. Duties primarily include establishing and maintaining an active research program in mathematics and seek external funding; Teaching undergraduate and graduate (master’s and doctoral level) courses; Providing service to the department, the university, and the profession. A doctoral degree in mathematics or a related discipline is required. Preferred qualifications include research and teaching experience in mathematics; a strong research interest in algebra; evidence of potential to obtain external funding.
