Job Title: Visiting Assistant Professor Department: Arts and Sciences | Mathematics The Department of Mathematics seeks applications to fill Hans J. Zassenhaus Visiting Assistant Professor (ZAP), Arnold Ross Visiting Assistant Professor (RAP), and Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) positions available effective Autumn Semester 2026. All positions involve a combination of both research and teaching, but teaching assignments may vary for each position. While teaching assignments are subject to change, the teaching expectation for a ZAP and a VAP is 2-1 (two courses in the autumn and one in the spring semester) and the teaching expectation for a RAP is one course and two recitations (or equivalent assignment) each semester. In addition to research and teaching, the positions prepare syllabi and course materials for assigned courses, holds office hours, grades assignments and submit grades by deadlines, and communicate regularly with students. This appointment is for one-year, through August 14, 2027, but is eligible for renewal for up to three years, through August 14, 2030 based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Education and Experience Requirements Required: Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Desired: : The successful candidate will have an exceptional research record or demonstrated potential for such research. They will also demonstrate evidence of, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
