Position Description
The Department of Mathematical Engineering of the University of Concepción invites applications for four (4) tenure-track academic positions, starting in June 2026. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a related area at the date of appointment, demonstrate strong research potential, exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, and be capable of effective teamwork.
Preference will be given to candidates whose research aligns with the following areas, listed in order of priority:
(i) Probability and Stochastic Processes; Optimization and Calculus of Variations.
(ii) Discrete Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Mathematical Physics, and other branches of Applied Mathematics.
One position will be allocated exclusively to Probability and Stochastic Processes, and one position will be allocated exclusively to Optimization and Calculus of Variations.
Teaching duties include courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The salary will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate. It could increase through external research fundings that tenure-track faculties are expected to apply for.
The Department of Mathematical Engineering offers an undergraduate program in Mathematical Civil Engineering and a Ph.D. program in Applied Sciences with major in Mathematical Engineering. More information about the Department and its academic staff is available at http://www.ing-mat.udec.cl/
