The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Northern British Columbia invites applications for a postdoctoral position. This position is open to researchers with interests in partial differential equations (PDEs) or applied analysis. This is a two-year appointment, with renewal for the second year subject to satisfactory performance. This is a term, full-time position from August 2026 to July 2028. Responsibilities This postdoctoral position is open to researchers with interests in PDEs and reaction-diffusion systems, with applications in areas such as mathematical ecology and mathematical biology. The successful candidate will be actively involved in various research projects with Dr. Mohammad El Smaily and Dr. Chunyi Gai. We encourage applications from candidates with experience and familiarity with these topics. The fellowship also includes a teaching component, requiring the successful candidate to teach two courses per year. Qualifications The successful candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent degree or expect to receive one before July 1, 2026. The position typically requires a PhD obtained in 2023 or later; however, if your PhD was obtained before 2024, we invite you to describe your career trajectory including any interruptions in your cover letter. Salary The annual salary will be $55,000.00. Normal hours of work will be 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday.
