Position Description
Job Summary
THE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, and
MATHEMATICS (STEM) at Clayton State University invites applications for a
tenure-track position in Mathematics. The appointment will be at the rank of
Assistant Professor, reporting to the Chair of the Mathematics and Decision
Science Department, to begin in Fall 2026. Salary will be commensurate with
experience and competitive with comparable programs. The position is contingent
on funding.
Responsibilities
Faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor or above
in the College of STEM are required to teach courses totaling 24 semester
credit hours per academic year. Faculty members are expected to take an active
and collegial role in course and curriculum development. Instructional
responsibilities include both upper-division mathematics courses in support of
the undergraduate mathematics program and courses to support the general
education requirements of Clayton State students.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate degree in mathematics, statistics,
mathematical education, or a closely related field by the time of appointment
is required. Candidates must have research and/or industry experience in
mathematics, statistics, and/or mathematical education. We seek candidates with
a strong background in mathematics and an active or emerging record of
mathematical research who are also prepared to contribute meaningfully to
mathematics education. Preference will be given to applicants with at least 18
graduate credit hours in mathematics education, reflecting our commitment to
excellent teaching, innovative pedagogy, and the preparation of future
educators. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach a range
of undergraduate mathematics courses, engage students from various backgrounds,
and contribute to departmental and university service in support of Clayton
State's mission of student success and social mobility. The successful
candidate must be eligible for employment in the US at the time of
appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in college-level teaching is desired, along with
knowledge of technology applications in mathematics classrooms. Candidates with
experience supervising undergraduate/graduate research projects, curriculum
development, writing and receiving grants, and/or working with a highly varied
student body are considered highly desirable.

philosophy, 4) copies of transcripts for all college and graduate work, and 5)
the contact information of at least three references that can directly address
the candidate's teaching abilities.
