Position Description

The School of Science and Mathematics at Emporia State University (ESU) invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor in mathematics or statistics. The appointment will begin in August 2026, with the possibility of renewal.

This position may be offered as a tenure-track, multi-year contract (non-tenure track up to three years), or non-tenure-track appointment, with consideration of factors including, but not limited to, academic program needs, the authority of Emporia State University, the qualifications of candidates, and consideration of the interests of candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach 12 credit hours of mathematics and statistics courses each semester. This could include general education courses or online graduate courses. Developing applied courses that will meet current and future needs in industry and/or government. Participate in student recruitment activities. Engage in appropriate service activities within the university and in wider communities. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD in mathematics or statistics or a related field. ABD will be considered. At least one year of teaching experience in the U.S. A strong commitment to working on recruitment and outreach activities and serving on assigned committees. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Consulting or work experience in industry. Strong evidence of innovation and excellence in teaching university-level courses. Ability to teach graduate-level statistics or applied mathematics courses. COMPENSATION: Salary: $55,500 - $80,000 annually Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
