Position:
The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites
applications for a non-tenure track, renewable 9-month position as Master
Teacher Clinical Instructor, specialty in mathematics, with the Towson UTeach Program and Mathematics
Department beginning in August 2026.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or equivalent education (bachelor degree plus 30 graduate credits),
preferably in mathematics secondary education or mathematics; a minimum of five
years of exemplary secondary (grades 7-12) public school teaching experience in
mathematics; be recognized for educational leadership and demonstrate skill and
passion for working with students and novice teachers. Experience teaching computer science is
desirable.
Responsibilities:
Towson UTeach Master Teachers are Clinical Instructors with a workload of 8
course unit equivalents per year (one course unit equivalent = 3 contact
hours).
- Teach introductory courses that provide students the opportunity to explore STEM teaching as a career.
- Teach senior level internship seminars and supervise interns during the professional year (last two semesters).
- Co-teach sophomore and junior level courses, assisting students in their field placements.
- Guide students through lesson planning; providing suggestions for revisions prior to teaching, observing lessons, and providing feedback for students’ teaching experiences.
- Supervise field placement components of introductory and upper-level classes. Field placements take place in public middle and high school mathematics and science classrooms.
- Serve as a liaison with host school administrators and mentor teachers for field placements.
- Schedule field placements (matching student schedules with school schedules and transportation limitations).
- Occasionally teach math pedagogy or lower level mathematics courses within the Mathematics Department.
Administrative duties of Master Teachers (1-2 course
unit equivalents per year) may include some of the following:
- Manage the Towson UTeach Student Resource Center, including purchase and preparation of materials.
- Manage Towson UTeach externships (work opportunities for students) including serving as a liaison with potential employers.
- Serve as the point person for the Towson UTeach Program on university recruitment days.
- Manage the Towson UTeach Scholarship Program.
- Manage and maintain the program’s technology (iPads and PASCO probes).
- Manage cab transportation to field placements for students who do not have their own transportation.
- Maintain data for accreditation purposes.

Towson
UTeach is the university’s teacher preparation program for future secondary
school mathematics, science and computer science teachers. Towson UTeach is a leader in preparing
Maryland’s secondary school mathematics teachers.

Salary and Benefits:
Targeted salary range: $80,000 - $85,000 commensurate
with experience.
