The School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was formerly the Department of Mathematics Teaching of the Graduate School of the University of Science and Technology of China (Beijing), established in 1978. In September 2002, it was renamed the Department of Mathematics of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In June 2006, it was jointly established with the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as the School of Mathematical Sciences of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The director and deputy director in charge of education of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science served as the dean and vice dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences, respectively. The current dean is Academician Zhang Ping. In 2014, the School of Mathematical Sciences, dedicated to the integration of science and education, was hosted by the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science.

The School of Mathematical Sciences comprises six teaching and research sections: Analysis Mathematics, Geometry and Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Computational Mathematics and Computer Mathematics, Probability and Mathematical Statistics, and Operations Research and Cybernetics. The school offers one undergraduate program: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics; three first-level doctoral programs: Mathematics, Systems Science, and Statistics; and one postdoctoral research station. The School of Mathematical Sciences is highly integrated with the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science in terms of science and education. It boasts a comprehensive range of disciplines, with a primary focus on basic theoretical research while also emphasizing applied research. It is one of the most influential graduate training bases for mathematics and systems science in China.

Relying on the host institution, the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, the School of Mathematical Sciences serves as a high-end talent cultivation base for mathematics and related disciplines in China. It integrates the comprehensive advantages of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, featuring a high-level faculty dedicated to the integration of science and education. The school brings together a group of renowned academicians and a large number of outstanding scientists with profound knowledge and academic expertise, who serve as the backbone in scientific research, teaching, and graduate student supervision. Currently, the school has over 200 graduate supervisors and 150 full-time teachers, including 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and over 90 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars or participants in National and Chinese Academy of Sciences talent programs.

The School of Mathematical Sciences offers advanced and standardized undergraduate and graduate course systems, a first-class research environment, comprehensive library resources, and state-of-the-art computing facilities. Adhering to the principles of small-scale enrollment, strengthened foundational education, integration of arts and sciences, promotion of interdisciplinary studies, individualized teaching, emphasis on scientific research, and elite cultivation, the school explores a new training model of "integration of science and education." The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences began enrolling undergraduate students in 2014, with Mathematics and Applied Mathematics being one of the first undergraduate programs offered. All 550 undergraduate students enrolled annually take the same foundational courses during their first three semesters. At the end of the third semester, students can independently choose and confirm their major. Approximately 40 students each year confirm Mathematics and Applied Mathematics as their major, with over 93% of undergraduate graduates pursuing master's or doctoral degrees domestically or abroad.

The School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, upholds the founding philosophy of the host institution, the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science: "Mathematics Connects the Universe, Diligence and Dedication Seek Truth." It aspires to become a renowned international base for cultivating and nurturing advanced research talents. It is a sacred hall for teaching, scientific research, and talent cultivation in mathematics and related disciplines, as well as an ideal choice for aspiring students.
