We are
seeking to appoint a Peter Newstead Fellow (Senior Postdoctoral Research
Associate).
You
will be working with Dr Thomas Eckl, Dr Naoki Koseki, Dr Nicola Pagani, Dr
Alice Rizzardo and Dr Jon Woolf within the project “Enumerative Geometry via
Triangulated Categories and Bridgeland Stability Conditions” funded by XTX
Markets. You will be a part of the Pure
Mathematics section at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the
University of Liverpool.
The
members of this research project have a broad range of research interests and
areas of expertise which include: enumerative algebraic geometry, triangulated
categories and non-commutative geometry, Bridgeland stability conditions,
moduli spaces and their compactifications, Hodge theory, classification of
higher-dimensional varieties, and perverse sheaves and stratifications.
You
should have a PhD in pure mathematics or in another relevant quantitative
subject. You should have research experience in algebraic geometry or an
adjacent field, ideally in one of the following areas: enumerative geometry,
triangulated and derived categories, Bridgeland stability conditions, moduli
spaces, perverse sheaves. You should demonstrate excellent verbal and written
communication skills and be able to write clearly and succinctly for
publication.
We are

Associates. You will have the opportunity to have research visits and to attend
conferences to present the results from your work. You will be appointed in the
Department of Mathematical Sciences, which is part of the School of Physical
Sciences.
The
expected start date is between 1 September and 31 December 2026 for 30 months.
