Position Summary We invite applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track appointment to teach undergraduate courses in mathematics and other duties as assigned for the 2026-2027 academic year. The appointment could be potentially renewed for up to two more years. The position carries a teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester and will start in August 2026. Candidates must have a PhD in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, or a closely related field by the time of appointment (Candidates who are ABD will be considered for this position). The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences has 26 full-time faculty, adjuncts, and two staff members who offer Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering Physics programs and service courses to the university. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Develop and teach undergraduate mathematics courses (such as calculus I and II, precalculus, etc.) in the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences • Engage students in high-impact learning practices. • Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community, and state. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Knowledge – command of academic discipline and teaching pedagogy • Skills – organization, leadership, communication • Abilities – responsive, collegial Required Qualifications • PhD in Mathematics, Math Education, Statistics, or a closely related field (ABD is considered). Preferred Qualifications • Excellent oral & written communication skills. • Evidence of assessment methods that facilitate continuous improvement in teaching. • Evidence of teaching excellence at the university level. • Experience with online instruction. • Experience using a variety of technology and software applications in the classroom.
