Job Description:
University Assistant - Dissertation Position (20 hours/week - upon submission of the dissertation agreement, the scope of employment will be increased to 30 hours/week), Institute of Mathematics from 15.09.2026 to 4 years. Main tasks: Dissertation in the field of Analysis of nonlinear time-dependent PDEs using rigorous computer-assisted methods of proof; Independent research (work on the dissertation); Independent teaching and supervision of students; scientific publications; Education and training (participation in workshops, conferences, further training); Administrative activities. Required qualification: Completed diploma, magister's or master's degree in mathematics or equivalent; first research experience in the analysis of nonlinear heat flows and the application of rigorous computer-assisted methods to investigate nonlinear dynamics; very good knowledge of English; good programming skills (Python); independent work and high motivation; experience in interacting with students; ability to work in a team; Willingness to communicate with colleagues. The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for 20 hours per week amounts to € 1.888 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be increased to € 2.832 for 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed and sent to the Personnel Department. The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before.
