Position Overview We invite outstanding young scholars to apply for the Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) Program through the School of Mathematics (Zhuhai), Sun Yat-Sen University. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation of China and will provide 1-3 million RMB over three years. Successful applicants will be appointed as tenured or tenure-track associate professors with competitive salaries, subsidized on-campus housing, generous home-purchase settlement funds, and postdoc hiring opportunities (Further details will be provided upon request).

About the School The School of Mathematics (Zhuhai) at Sun Yat-sen University was established in October 2015. The School comprises four divisions: Analysis, Geometry and Algebra, Computational Mathematics, and General Mathematics. It currently has 54 faculty and staff members, including 7 full professors, 31 associate professors, 1 lecturer, and 7 postdoctoral researchers. The ratio of full-time faculty with domestic versus overseas doctoral degrees is approximately 1:1, and 69% are aged 40 or below. The School currently offers two undergraduate programs—Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and Information and Computing Science—as well as academic PhD and Master's programs in Mathematics and a professional Master's program in Applied Statistics. Currently, there are 685 undergraduates and 142 graduate students.

Eligibility (1) Applicants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China and possess high standards of scientific ethics. (2) Applicants must be born on or after January 1, 1986. (3) Applicants must hold a doctoral degree. (4) Research areas mainly focus on Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, etc. (5) By June 15, 2026, applicants should generally have held a formal teaching or research position at a recognized overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D organization for at least 36 consecutive months. For those who obtained their doctoral degrees overseas and have demonstrated exceptional achievements, the required duration of overseas work experience may be appropriately relaxed. (This waiver does not apply to those who obtained an overseas degree through joint training programs between Chinese and foreign institutions). For applicants who held a paid position within China while working overseas, the period of such employment will not count toward the required overseas work experience. (8) Applicants are subject to the relevant requirements for the coordinated implementation of national-level talent programs. Only one national science and technology talent program may be undertaken at the same level; within a single application year, an individual may apply for only one program and may not apply for a lower-level program.
