Edfinity is an education technology platform supported by the National Science Foundation and used at over 400 institutions, including some of the largest public university systems in the country. We are a pioneer in AI-powered mathematics education. Our platform applies current AI to the genuinely hard problem of evaluating student reasoning and proof-style explanations, not just checking final answers. We are reshaping how undergraduate mathematics and statistics are taught and assessed, and we are growing quickly.

We are looking for current faculty members at 4-year colleges and universities to lead academic outreach and engagement on a part-time basis (10–20 hours per week). This is a peer-facing role designed to fit alongside a full faculty life: you keep teaching, researching, and serving your department, while spending a modest number of flexible hours helping fellow mathematicians understand what AI genuinely can and cannot do in the classroom.

The best person to talk with mathematics faculty about teaching in an AI age is someone who is still standing at the front of a classroom. Your standing among peers, your teaching practice, and your ability to articulate the effective and ethical use of AI will be central to the role.

What you'll do:

•      Engage the mathematics community. Represent Edfinity to faculty, instructors, and department leadership at conferences (such as the Joint Mathematics Meetings, MAA MathFest, and sectional meetings), workshops, webinars, and campus conversations. You will be the person educators are glad to talk to because you understand their world and can speak credibly about where AI genuinely helps and where it does not.

•      Help educators navigate AI in the classroom. Many faculty are actively figuring out what AI means for how they teach, grade, and assess. You will be a trusted guide who runs sessions and conversations that help instructors understand, evaluate, and make confident use of AI-powered tools in their courses.

•      Build relationships with departments and instructors. Develop genuine, lasting connections with the people who teach undergraduate mathematics, understanding their goals, constraints, and questions about teaching in an AI era.

•      Shape product direction by carrying the field's voice inward. Your conversations with educators become a direct channel into what Edfinity builds next. You will carry real classroom needs, and real concerns about AI, back to our product team and influence the roadmap.

•      Drive adoption and academic success. Help departments evaluate, adopt, and succeed with the platform, ensuring the institutions you bring on genuinely thrive.

•      Tell Edfinity's story credibly. Translate what our AI-powered platform actually does into terms that resonate with mathematicians, whether in presentations, written pieces, or one-on-one conversations, with the precision and honesty that a technical audience respects.

•     Modest, flexible hours. 10–20 hours per week, scheduled around your teaching, research, and service — with light, regular check-ins rather than timesheets.

•     Complementary, not competing. The role runs alongside your faculty position and academic calendar, and stays fully separate from your institutional responsibilities.

•     You stay a peer. Your part is the mathematics, the teaching, and the conversations; our team handles everything else.

You're likely a strong fit if you have:

•     A current faculty appointment (tenure-track, tenured, or teaching-stream) at a 4-year college or university, with a PhD in mathematics or statistics

•     Active teaching experience and a real feel for undergraduate mathematics education — experience with large-enrollment courses, course coordination, or homework-system authoring (e.g., WeBWorK) is a plus

•     Standing in the professional community — MAA section activity, Project NExT, committee work, workshops — and genuine enjoyment in meeting people and presenting

•     Genuine curiosity about AI and how it is reshaping mathematics education, and the ability to discuss it credibly, including its limits, with faculty

•     Strong communication skills across speaking and writing, and comfort working independently in a remote, fast-moving environment

•     Availability for occasional travel to conferences and academic events, consistent with your academic calendar

Logistics.

Fully remote, part-time at 10–20 hours per week, with occasional travel to conferences and events. Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.
