The Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas (CIMAT) (https://www.cimat.mx/ | https://www.cimat.mx/en), located in Guanajuato, Mexico, invites applications from researchers in Statistics and/or Probability for a Temporary Researcher (Investigador(a) Ordinario(a)) position. This is a fixed-term appointment without the possibility of tenure, for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Statistics, Probability, or a closely related field, awarded within the last six years. Successful candidates are expected to contribute actively to strengthening and expanding the research activities of the Department of Probability and Statistics, as well as enhancing the national and international reputation of its graduate programs. In particular, they are expected to conduct internationally competitive research and establish collaborations both within the department and with other research groups at CIMAT, as well as with national and international institutions. Preference will be given to candidates whose research lies at the interface between Statistics and Probability Theory, or who work in one or more of the Department's strategic research areas, including (but not limited to): Spatio-temporal Statistics, Environmental Statistics, Biostatistics, High-dimensional Statistics, Industrial Statistics, Statistics for Data Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computational Statistics, Random Matrices, Free Probability, Stochastic Control, Mathematical Finance, Stochastic Partial Differential Equations, Markov Processes, Branching Processes, Population Genetics. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to both research and teaching, as well as to interdisciplinary collaboration. They will also be expected to contribute significantly to the research activities of the department and to participate in our undergraduate and graduate academic programs (https://www.cimat.mx/oferta-educativa/) by teaching one course per year at either the undergraduate or graduate level. CIMAT is part of the network of public research centers of the Secretaría de Ciencias, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación (Secihti, https://secihti.mx/secihti/). It comprises four academic departments: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, and Computer Science. The Department of Probability and Statistics at the Guanajuato campus consists of nine faculty members in Probability and Stochastic Processes and six faculty members in Statistics and its Applications. The department provides an outstanding environment for developing an academic career, particularly for early-career researchers. It maintains numerous productive collaborations with leading institutions worldwide and is recognized as one of the most active research groups in Probability and Statistics in Latin America.
