Position Description
The Department of Mathematics at Indiana University-Bloomington invites applications for adjunct instructors for the Fall 2026 term. Adjuncts will join a dynamic group of faculty dedicated to quality instruction and professional growth. Responsibilities: delivering effective in-person (NOT remote/online) instruction, mostly for medium- and large-sized courses (enrollments 50-280), at 100- and 200-level. Courses are led, some more tightly than others, by a designated local faculty coordinator; adherence to departmental standards and norms set by the coordinator is required. Qualifications: A Masters degree in mathematics with relevant experience is required; a PhD and relevant experience is preferred. Support structures: provided by the department outside of the classroom include a dedicated Math Learning Center open weekdays roughly 9-5 and dedicated Help Sessions for select courses. Calculus and Business Math courses feature online, student-customized, auto-graded homework. Community: adjunct faculty are warmly welcomed at departmental professional development events, seminars and colloquia, and social events.
