The Department of Mathematics at Cornell University invites applications for a position of Postdoctoral Associate. Applications will begin to be reviewed immediately, with a target start date for a successful applicant of October 1, 2026. This will be a 1-year appointment with the possibility of renewal through March 2029. The primary duties are to develop and administer a benchmark for auto-formalization of mathematics, and to engage in related research. Duties will include contributing to the benchmarking dataset, organizing and ensuring the quality of the data contributed by others, developing tools to support the creation of the data, and supporting the Math+AI laboratory.We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Lean or other proof assistant languages. A Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field is required.
This position is funded by a research project with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the Department of Defense, through the expMath program.

Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000
Actual salary offers in the College of Arts and Sciences will be based on education, experience, discipline, and relevant skills.
