Position Description
For the full description, please visit https://www.cvut.cz/en/cvut-starting-grant The ČVUT Starting Grant (StG) is a competitive scheme for excellent early-career researchers with substantial international experience who want to establish an independent research group at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU). It is open to researchers of any nationality, from abroad, from elsewhere in the Czech Republic, and at CTU; the proposal and the interview are in English. CTU expects to fund at most 10 projects in the 2027 call, across all research fields represented at CTU. The grant provides up to CZK 4,000,000 (about EUR 160,000) per year, all costs and your own salary included, for up to 3 years, with 1 possible no-cost extension, and a one-time relocation package of up to CZK 250,000 (about EUR 10,200) for a PI moving from abroad. Your host unit, the CTU faculty or institute that hosts the project, commits to open a recruitment procedure for an assistant-professor tenure-track position, under CTU's rules on academic careers. The post is filled by open competition, as Czech law requires, so the grant does not guarantee it; what the host unit commits to, in its internal agreement with CTU, is to open the procedure no later than 6 months before the project ends, and to make the related career-path arrangements. No host commitment is needed to apply, and naming no host unit is not a weakness. If you describe an intended host environment, the panel may assess its feasibility under the fit-with-CTU criterion (Criterion C); what a unit offers (co-funding, space, terms) is never assessed. Host matching starts after shortlisting. Funded PIs are expected to use the project as a springboard: most notably by submitting a European Research Council Starting or Consolidator Grant proposal, or equivalent, no later than 1 year after the project ends. The binding rules are in 3 documents signed by the Rector: the Call, the Principles and the Evaluation Procedure Guidelines (see Downloads). If you are ready to launch a research direction with strong institutional backing, ČVUT StG is designed for you.We are not accepting applications for this job through MathJobs.Org right now.
