- Position The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science & Engineering seeks a dynamic colleague committed to fostering teaching and research excellence and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and diversity. The new faculty member will join a collaborative group of 22 mathematics, statistics and mathematics education faculty who serve the entire campus community. We seek applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin in fall semester of 2018. The successful candidate will teach nine contact hours per semester supporting the BS and MS programs and maintain an active research agenda as manifested by supervision of graduate students, scholarly publications and grant writing. We expect a candidate to collaborate with the faculty in our department and the College of Science and Engineering in applications of mathematics and/or statistics to engineering, natural and environmental systems, coastal and marine studies, etc. Primary teaching responsibilities will be teaching mathematics/statistics courses at different levels. Department The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science and Engineering strives to educate students at the University so that they are prepared to use mathematics intelligently in their chosen fields of study and to understand mathematics as it affects their lives and participation in public affairs.
