Mathematics London Associate Professor / Professor of Pure Mathematics Full Time The appointment will be on UCL Grade . The salary range will be Grade 9 from £56,266 - £61,181 per annum / Professorial Grade from £70,420 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The UCL Department of Mathematics invites applications for the position of Associate Professor or Professor of Pure Mathematics from candidates with an outstanding record of academic research and publication in any area of Pure Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out and disseminate their research, including supervising PhD students and generating income to support research, and seeking to maximise the impact of that research. Responsibilities will also include the development of, and participation in, the Department's teaching programme at undergraduate and graduate level. Duties will also include supporting the administrative and management roles of the Department.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding profile in some area of Pure Mathematics and an impressive track record in research and publishing. They will have relevant teaching experience, as well as experience of course development and running research projects, including a proven record of feeding research into and communicating with national and international bodies.

They are expected to have a PhD or equivalent qualification in Pure Mathematics, with a record of international research excellence and publishing, and successful supervision of graduate students and postdoctoral research staff. Experience of teaching mathematics at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level is also required, together with a commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates should also be able to show demonstrable leadership in their research field, reflected by major publications, invited papers at international conferences and awards. Exceptional candidates will have a continuing record of attracting external funding to support research activity, and a clear vision for the potential impact of their research.

For consideration at the Professorial level, candidates must also have an outstanding international research profile, with a continuing track record of extensive publications in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences, and a continuing track record of external research grant funding. Evidence of contributions to peer review bodies/committees, professional organisations, learned societies, government committees or Research Councils (for example) would also be required. In addition, candidates should have experience of promoting excellence in undergraduate teaching of mathematics and of module or course development, as well as a proven ability to lead, develop and motivate colleagues.

A strong, sustained record of attracting external research funding to support research activity, and some experience of curriculum and programme development, would also be desirable for appointment at this level.

The department has internationally recognised research groups in pure and applied analysis; fluid mechanics; mathematical physics; geometry and topology; algebra, number theory and combinatorics; mathematical modelling in biology, finance, industry and society.
