The University of New Haven is seeking a dynamic and visionary academic leader to chair the Department of Mathematics and Physics beginning Fall 2018. Given current needs in the department, we are especially interested in hiring someone with a specialization in probability and statistics, or in applied and computational mathematics to support our new Masters program in Applied and Computational Mathematics.

Required qualifications for the position are a record of teaching and research excellence in Mathematics and progressive leadership experience. Candidates must be fully committed to creating a culture of success for diverse student populations and promoting a diverse and inclusive departmental culture. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are a must. Ideally, we are seeking applicants with experience in managing a graduate mathematics program, and/or with experience chairing a department with an ability to work/collaborate with other departments and colleagues in an interdisciplinary computational science setting. Candidates must also demonstrate a dynamic vision for developing, supporting, and directing a complex organization aimed at growing the math baccalaureate and masters programs, and for providing the highest quality math and physics education through experiential, collaborative and discovery-based learning.
