| The Department of Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University seeks a full-time teaching faculty member to support the direction of its entry-level course sequence. Responsibilities will include instruction, course coordination, curriculum and technology innovation, and participation in the delivery of professional development of instructors and TAs. We view this as a dynamic position: the successful candidate will join a team of teaching faculty who have significant latitude in the coming years to revise and re-imagine our existing programming. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching.
We anticipate an initial appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. Our intention, contingent on performance during an initial review period, is for this to be a long-term hire, eligible for eventual promotion to the rank of Associate or Full Teaching Professor. The position is benefits-eligible, including JHU's excellent college tuition benefit for dependent children.
We seek candidates with a record of excellence in teaching and teaching-related scholarly activities, the intellectual curiosity to pursue novel and innovative methods of thinking and teaching, and a commitment to inclusive and student-centered pedagogy and teaching innovation; an interest in establishing a long-term teaching career with the Department; the administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills required to coordinate a large service course; and the mathematical background necessary to interact with the graduate students in our department.
