TENURE TRACK POSITION IN MATHEMATICS
Elmira College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics beginning fall term 2021. Applicants are expected to possess a doctorate in the field at the time of hire. Candidates with a background in statistics or applied mathematics are strongly preferred.
This appointment involves teaching, service, advising, and scholarly activity. Conducting research with undergraduates is strongly encouraged. In addition to staffing the mathematics major, our department plays a crucial role in supporting several large programs at the College and the General Education program. While candidates should be prepared to teach a broad range of mathematics courses at all levels, the immediate departmental needs are introductory statistics and advanced probability and statistics. Our program focuses on active learning, student collaboration, and technology-based interactive student activities.
Elmira College, the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies, is a small, well-established, residential, liberal arts college in a pleasant community in the Finger Lakes region of New York State (county population 100,000).
