Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics to begin September 1, 2018.

Minimum Required Qualifications: We seek candidates who have an earned doctorate in computer science (or a closely-related discipline), but will consider candidates who have achieved ABD status. Candidates must have experience teaching programming either in a classroom or laboratory setting. A commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching and advising is essential.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated excellence in teaching and the ability to teach introductory computer science courses using Python and Java are desirable. We are interested in applicants who will diversify the expertise and experience represented in the department in general, with a preference for applicants who can teach either systems- or applications-related computer science courses. Applicants should demonstrate sympathy with the aims and ideals of liberal arts education and a commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds. A willingness to foster and support undergraduate research is highly valued.

Major/Essential Functions: The course load for the position will be 6 course equivalents, normally three courses per semester. Primary teaching responsibilities include courses in computer science at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, contributing to courses in general education, and advising of students. Gustavus faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
