General Summary of Position: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Variational Analysis, Optimization and Statistics: The Mathematical Sciences Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a one-year, full-time, non-renewable postdoctoral position. The candidate will join the Variational Analysis, Optimization and Statistics research group at the department. Expertise in Convex Analysis, Statistical Learning and applications are preferred. The position is for 12 months, to begin in fall 2022. Responsibilities will consist primarily of conducting high quality research. Additional teaching opportunities may be available. The Department of Mathematical Sciences at UMass Lowell boasts 30 full-time faculty. A bachelor's degree program is offered through both the day and evening programs. Master's degree programs in Applied & Computational Mathematics, Probability & Statistics, Mathematics for Teachers, and Industrial Mathematics (PSM) are offered through the department. A Doctor of Science in Computational Mathematics is offered in conjunction with the Computer Science Department. UMass Lowell is located about 25 miles northwest of Boston in the high-tech corridor of Massachusetts. Minimum Qualifications (Required): • An earned PhD in Mathematics by the time of the appointment Additional Considerations: • Established track record of high quality research publications is desirable.
