This position is a three-year appointment targeting analysts and additive combinatorialists. It is funded by a European and Physical Sciences Research Council New Investigators Grant, Pointwise Convergence of Multiple Ergodic Averages, with PI Dr Ben Krause. Applicants will be expected to participate actively in research in some combination of pointwise ergodic theory, additive combinatorics, or harmonic analysis. Topics of emphasis include multiple ergodic averages along polynomial orbits, polynomial Szemerédi theorems, and discrete analogues in harmonic analysis. The successful applicant will have experience working actively in one of the above disciplines. A background in analytic number theory is also desirable, as is training in time frequency analysis. Experience teaching mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels will also be considered. The post is available from September 2022 and is located at the Strand Campus of King’s College London. This post will be offered on an fixed-term contract for 3 years. This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent Key responsibilities: Conduct independent research; Write papers for publication in leading mathematics journals; Disseminate research findings and participate in national and international conferences; Contribute to analysis activities in the department, for example, seminar attendance. The post-holder will be supervised by Dr Ben Krause. There are no formal teaching duties associated with the position but a limited amount of teaching may be undertaken. |
