The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics beginning July 2018. Candidates will be considered at both the assistant and associate professor level.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher and scholar who can teach courses in mathematics at all levels, with an extensive record of teaching at the undergraduate level. Preferable areas of teaching include analysis and/or computer science. The position carries a teaching load of three courses per semester, and requires ongoing scholarly activity in the form of publications and presentations. Other duties include advising students, conducting independent studies, supervising students doing senior projects, and participating in department and university service.

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: Ph.D. in mathematics or related field by July 1, 2018, evidence of scholarly achievement, and an excellent and substantive record of teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants must also demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to teaching in a liberal arts institution and willingness to contribute to the department’s focus on teaching to both majors and non-majors. Applications are sought from those who have demonstrated success working with diverse populations and share Hollins’ commitment to preparing students for leadership opportunities in a broadly diverse, global society. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal history background check.
