JOB PURPOSE:
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an Academic Professional Lecturer (APL) in statistics at the rank of assistant lecturer beginning August 2020. This is a full-time benefited position. Job duties for this position will include teaching, professional development, advising, and service to the department and university. The expected teaching load is 3-4 courses per term, some of which will be delivered online.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position entails responsibility for effective teaching, advising, service, and professional development. The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in the department by continuing to develop distance education and to provide support and leadership for the lower-division program in statistics. This includes the development of student instructors and articulation with Wyoming high schools and community colleges. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The department currently consists of 28 faculty and lecturers and maintains active research groups in Statistics, Analysis, Algebra & Combinatorics, Computational & Applied Mathematics. The department is also home to about 30 graduate students and maintains lively graduate programs in mathematics and statistics.
