RTG Research Associate: The Department of Mathematics at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, invites applications for two RTG (Research Training Group) postdoctoral Research Associate positions, in the fields of geometry and topology. The successful candidates will be expected to conduct their own research, under supervision of a faculty mentor, and teach two courses per year. The appointment begins with the fall term of 2022, with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2022.

Qualifications: Applicants must be on track to receive a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a closely related field by June 2022 and must hold a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. Applicants must present evidence of outstanding accomplishments and promise in both research and teaching. Because of NSF rules, the position is restricted to US citizens, nationals, and permanent residents. In addition to teaching during the academic year, RTG Postdoctoral Research Associates will assist in supervision of a summer undergraduate research program for one or two summers during their appointment. All candidates whose research interests complement the strengths of the department's geometry/topology faculty will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who have received their Ph.D. within the last three years.

All positions carry an initial appointment of one year, renewable for two additional years, contingent on satisfactory performance.
