The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Smith College invites applications for a benefits-eligible position at the rank of Lecturer, to begin July 1, 2018. The teaching load is 2 courses per semester with a salary commensurate with experience. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, pending satisfactory performance. A Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a related field is expected by time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Mathematics and Statistics are encouraged to apply.

We seek someone with experience and strong interest in undergraduate teaching, as well as research interests that complement those of the current faculty. We are the home of the Center for Women in Mathematics. In addition to courses in theoretical mathematics and applied mathematics we offer a statistics track through the major, we co-host a Five College certificate in the biomathematical sciences, and with our award-winning post-baccalaureate program, we send a cohort of students to graduate school each year. The department is active in numerous research areas, with dynamic collaborations between faculty. Further details may be found at
