The successful candidate will complement and extend the research areas in the Numerics group, in particularly with respect to applications in natural sciences. It is expected that she/he will use the opportunity to actively participate in the Collaborative Research Centers SFB-TRR 146 "Multiscale Simulation Methods for Soft Matter Systems" and SFB-TRR 165 "Waves to Weather." Admissible candidates are internationally renowned scientists with an expertise in the fields of uncertainty quantification, stochastic Galerkin methods, and/or reduced order methods.

The appointment requires participation in teaching activities in numerical mathematics in its full breath. The cadidate will also contribute adequately to the teaching activities of the Institute of Mathematics, in particular in the Masters programme "Computational Sciences." The state of Rhineland–Palatinate and JGU support a concept of intensive tutoring and expect a high rate of presence at the university.

Applicants must meet the general requirements according to public services law and the Higher Education Act of Rhineland‐Palatinate (§ 49, Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz). In addition to a PhD in mathematics a first‐rate research record must be proven.
