FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time, entry level tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department Mathematics, with a focus in Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Informatics and a starting date in August 2023.

We seek a collegial team player with a demonstrated ability to lead a college-level math initiatives that support the university's goal of enhancing its programs in technology, cybersecurity, data science, and informatics. To that end, we seek qualified individuals in all areas of applied mathematics, including but not limited to statistics; differential equations and dynamical systems; cryptography and number theory; linear algebra and discrete mathematics; financial and actuarial mathematics.

Responsibilities include:

  • High-quality teaching of service courses and courses for majors
  • Maintaining an active research agenda with regular publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, both inside and outside of the college
  • Service on departmental and college committees
  • Curriculum and program development

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Ph.D. in mathematics or related field from an accredited institution
  • Ability to teach undergraduate or graduate courses
  • Ability to teach evening, weekends, in face-to-face and online formats
  • Potential for excellence in teaching, including online teaching, and in scholarship.
Preferred
  • Experience working with collaborators in disciplines outside of mathematics
  • Experience working with collaborators outside of academia
COMPENSATION

$72,667 - $93,134; Salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
