The Bard Early Colleges invite applications for full-time faculty positions in Mathematics, beginning September 2018, at multiple campuses within our network. 

By promoting authentic and supportive undergraduate opportunities, Bard Early College faculty and staff prepare students of all academic backgrounds for further college success. Across our network, the Bard Early Colleges enable talented and highly motivated students to complete a high school diploma alongside an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College. As satellite campuses of Bard College, an independent college of the liberal arts and sciences in New York’s Hudson Valley, the Bard Early Colleges partner with public schools in six cities: New York City (3 locations); New Orleans, LA; Baltimore, MD; Newark, NJ; Hudson, NY; and Cleveland, OH. 

We seek candidates able to teach Mathematics courses at all levels, from high school algebra through intermediate college-level courses, including Calculus and Statistics. In addition, candidates are expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising and committee service. Master’s degree is mathematics or a related field required; candidates with a Ph.D., or A.B.D, who have college and/or high school teaching experience are preferred. Previous experience working with youth is desirable. 

Additional Responsibilities: 
-Student advisement of a small cohort of students through First Year Experience curriculum. 
-Student support, in the form of weekly Math Labs, mentorship of peer tutors, and office hours. 
-Participation in Early College Pedagogy trainings, workshops, and roundtables with Bard Early College faculty from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences.  
-Contribution to BECA’s culture of ongoing curriculum revision, innovation, and experimentation. 
-Participate fully in the life of the school, including committee service.  

We are looking for candidates with familiarity using participatory pedagogy, a focus on interdisciplinary in their curricular design, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diverse working and learning environments. We have an interest in candidates who are familiar with mathematics implications for ACT and other relevant testing modalities.
