POSITION SUMMARY The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benedictine College invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics position to begin August 15, 2022. Review of applications will begin May 1, 2022 and will extend until the position is filled. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in mathematics, but a candidate possessing a master's degree in mathematics with a mathematics Ph.D. ABD would also be considered. The beautiful campus of Benedictine College is situated in picturesque Atchison, KS on the bluffs above the Missouri River. Atchison is within an hour of major cities such as Kansas City, Saint Joseph, Lawrence, and Topeka as well as 35 minutes from the Kansas City International Airport. Benedictine College, which has a full-time undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2000 students, is a mission-centered academic community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential function is to teach courses in Mathematics. A typical course load is 12 credit hours per semester. Courses vary in number of credit hours, but the teaching load typically requires teaching 3-4 courses per semester. Due to a rapidly growing engineering program, the course load will include one or two sections of Pre-Calculus each semester. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to teaching excellence and to engaging undergraduate students in research.
