Associate Professor of Statistics

Job Summary

The Department of Statistics at Purdue University invites nominations and applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor and the Associate Professor levels beginning August 2022. Purdue University seeks to attract excellent candidates in all areas of statistics or allied fields to strengthen a key department and build cross-campus linkages in data science and other core statistical areas. Applicants for the Assistant Profession position are expected to develop an excellent research profile that leads to external funding and those for the Associate Professor position are expected to have an excellent research profile with a substantial external funding record. All candidates shall have the interest and potential to contribute to other missions of the Department.

College and Department

This position comes at a time of dynamic leadership and with significant investment in the College of Science, which comprises the computing, physical, and life sciences at Purdue. The College has committed considerable resources in Data Science and provides highly competitive start-up packages in Statistics. The Department has 41 tenured and tenure-track professors, 16 lecturers, 153 graduate students, and a large number of undergraduates.  The Department’s teaching and research activities cover a broad range of topics integral to modern statistics (theoretical, methodological, computational, and applied), probability, and data science, as well as connections to computational finance and actuarial science, industrial statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, spatial statistics and environmental statistics, and statistical genetics and genomics.  For more information, see http://www.stat.purdue.edu/.

Qualifications

All applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field, and be committed to excellence in research as well as teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in Statistics.
