The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises seven non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association.

Research Assistant (m/f/d)

to be filled.

The applicant should perform active research on numerical methods with anisotropic components, like the generation of anisotropic grids, discretizations on anisotropic grids or solvers for the systems of equations resulting from these discretizations. Corresponding publications should be available.

The goal consists in applying such methods for the numerical solution of partial differential equations from fluid dynamics, electro chemistry or semiconductor electronics. Expected are the participation in the software development of the group as well as the support of projects from applications in collaboration with Partners from WIAS or outside.

A university diploma or master degree in mathematics or a closely related discipline as well as a PhD degree are required.

The appointment is limited for three years. The work schedule is 39 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVoeD Bund scale.
