| The Department of Combinatorics and Optimization at the University of Waterloo invites applications from qualified candidates for one 2-year postdoctoral fellowship appointment in analytic combinatorics under the supervision of Stephen Melczer. Research topics will centre around the growing field of analytic combinatorics in several variables, which applies tools from diverse fields of mathematics to combinatorial problems but requires results not typical in those originating fields. Research experience in one or more of the following areas is desired: analytic or algebraic combinatorics, computational algebraic geometry, computational topology, topological decompositions of complex varieties, and the asymptotics of multivariate oscillatory integrals. In particular, a research background in combinatorics is not a strict requirement for those with experience in other listed areas.
A Ph.D. degree and evidence of excellence in research are required. Successful applicants are expected to maintain an active program of research. The annual salary is $50,000 and the position has a teaching load of one course per year. In addition, a travel fund of $2000 per year will be provided. The effective date of appointment is September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2024. However, dates are negotiable.
