The University of Minnesota Rochester (www.r.umn.edu) is seeking a Teaching Specialist or Lecturer to teach one section of Introduction to Statistics for the Spring 2023 semester. As part of UMR’s innovative NXT GEN MED program, this course is taught in a 7 week block format. The appointment is primarily teaching-based and is made semester by semester. Employment is contingent on the course meeting its enrollment target. Instruction may be in-person or online, depending on instructor availability.

Job Responsibilities Teaching (90%) Attend class meetings and deliver course content. Evaluate student performance and submit grading. Respond to student inquiries and meet with students. Hold at least 2 JustAsk hours (https://r.umn.edu/academics-research/academic-resources/just-ask) for every 3-credit course taught. Course Preparation (10%) Complete orientation and training. Meet with appropriate faculty and gather information as needed. Develop course content and syllabus as needed.

Required Qualifications A Master's degree in Statistics or Mathematics (or closely related field with graduate coursework) is required to be hired as a Teaching Specialist A PhD degree in Statistics or Mathematics (or closely related field) is required to be hired as a Lecturer Educational experience in a context related to the teaching assignment The University of Minnesota requires that an employee has authorization to work in the US in which the role is based. In the event an applicant does not have current work authorization, the University of Minnesota will determine, in its sole discretion, whether to sponsor an individual for work authorization. However, based on immigration requirements, not all roles are suitable for sponsorship. This role is available for candidates already authorized to work in the United States.
