Qualified candidates will have a strong research record and the promise of continuing a high level of research activity, a keen interest and demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship of both undergraduates and graduate students, and a strong and proven commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive college campus at all scales. In particular, as increasing diversity and inclusivity within STEM are priorities of the Math Department and Science Division, we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the efforts of the Academic Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (ASURE), the E.E. Just Program or Women in Science Project (WISP). We welcome applications from across geometry, especially from geometers whose research has substantive connections with dynamical systems, geometric analysis, group actions, Riemannian geometry, or spectral theory. The department (http://www.math.dartmouth.edu) is home to 21 tenured and tenure-track faculty members as well as 16 postdocs and research associates. Part of the School of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Mathematics has a strong Ph.D. program and outstanding undergraduate majors. Members of the department have collaborative connections across the Arts and Sciences, with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, the Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business.

Dartmouth’s academic year is divided into four ten-week terms, with faculty engaging full-time for three of the four terms. The teaching responsibility in Mathematics is three courses per year, spread over two or three terms. To create an atmosphere supportive of research, Dartmouth offers new faculty members grants for research-related expenses, a term of sabbatical leave for each three academic years in residence, and an extra term of leave after a successful reappointment in the third year.
